Why You Can’t Spot Lose Weight
Everybody has one area where they want to get rid of fat. Very commonly it is the stomach but a lot of times it can be other areas like arms, legs, love handles and even chin. Many products out there will tell you that they can get rid of the fat in that area for you. I am here to tell you that they are lying.
There is one thing all these gimmicks are banking on you not knowing: There is no such thing as spot reduction. You cannot just lose weight on your stomach and nowhere else, it doesn’t work like that. You can only lower your overall body fat level, losing fat over all areas of your body. This is why using an ab machine alone will not get you abs: it will not get rid of the fat covering your stomach because abs exercises are not an efficient way of workout out. Sure you might get extremely strong ab muscles, but they will never be visible under all the fat.
1. How you eat is just as important as how you exercise
Eating Healthy is very important. In order to lose weight you need to stop eating foods that cause your body to accumulate more fat. Try to eat more fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Stay away from junk food, fast food and fatty foods. I’m not saying it isn’t alright to have it once in a while but try not to eat it regularly.
Many people overlook the fact that what you drink is also very important to losing weight. If you stop or severely cut back on your pop consumption it will have a large impact: pop is packed full of sugar and other things that encourage weight gain. When it comes to liquids try to drink as much water as possible, water is even better for weight loss than drinking juices.
2. Spot Reduction Is a Mere Myth
It is not healthy to believe what those people say about the productivity of spot reduction efforts. The products you see on the market require nothing but merely attach or apply them on the problem areas. What about your other body parts? What about the other requirements of the body?
Before you even need to think about how strong and well developed your abs are you need to get rid of all the fat covering them up. To do that you need to eat right and exercise your entire body, not just your abs.
Then you will also have to gain muscle mass. At this point, the only way you can only get rid of the fats and get some body mass is to have a healthy diet and do exercises. It is generally accepted that resistance training is better than cardio for gaining muscle mass, a good site on this is Benefits of Resistance Training A good workout to try is the Chest Workout at Home
3. There Are No Shortcuts
Miracle diets, pills and potions are mere shortcuts that will lead you to a dead end. If a healthy body is aimed, you have to work for it. You have to earn it.
Good luck on losing weight and getting into better shape.
